Bipolar Pencils
Kirwan Surgical Products’ disposable and reusable bipolar pencils are manufactured in a variety of styles and wire gauges including 14, 18, 20, 23, 25 and 27 gauge. The solid, single piece design allows the pencil to be injection molded which eliminates the potential for fluid seepage and electrical failure while providing greater structural integrity.
The insulated wire and sleeve forming the patented coaxial harness assembly of the pencil extends from the rear pins and continues to the distal tip. The area of coagulation is restricted to the space between these two elements permitting discrete coagulation without excessive damage to the peripheral tissue structures. The exterior harness can range in length from very short, for discrete surface coagulation, to 12 inches long for working down through a cannula. The exterior surface of the pencil features a knurled finish providing a non-slip grip. These bipolar pencils also include an indicator on the front end confirming orientation of the tip.
Disposable Bipolar Pencils
Disposable bipolar pencils come in a variety of tip styles including straight, beveled, curved, tapered, blunt and Widestroke™. Available wire gauges include 18, 20, 23, 25 and 27.
Reusable Bipolar Pencils
Kirwan’s reusable TPR bipolar pencils are available in a variety of lengths to accommodate different microsurgical indications. The pencils can be straight or curved and the pencil tips are offered in beveled, domed, tapered, sharp, blunt or Widestroke™ styles. These pencils are available in 14, 18, 20 and 23 gauge wire sizes.
